20 APR 2021- 'Lasso and Duque agree to accelerate Ecuador's entry into the Pacific Alliance-

• "The president-elect, Guillermo Lasso, requested the support of the head of state of Colombia, Iván Duque, for the “immediate entry” of Ecuador to the Pacific Alliance, a trade integration mechanism of which Chile, Mexico and Peru are also part.

• Lasso and Duque offered a joint statement on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at the conclusion of a meeting at the Casa de Nariño, headquarters of the Executive of the neighboring country, in Bogotá. “Ecuador is a country that requires the support of Colombia for an immediate full-fledged entry into the Pacific Alliance.
  

 

We believe in free trade, we believe in economic openness, we believe in free transit of people, free transit of capital, free transit of merchandise and we will do everything necessary so that in our government we can achieve that economic opening of Ecuador to the world, and the world's investment in Ecuador, "said Lasso.

Duque responded that he "deeply values" Lasso's visit to Bogotá, which becomes the president-elect's first international tour, just nine days after the ballot that made him the successor of Lenín Moreno.

“Today we address issues of great importance for our countries. In the first place, I believe that we also ratify the commitment to see Ecuador as a full member of the Pacific Alliance, ”said the Colombian President.

 "In my capacity as president pro tempore of the Pacific Alliance," said Duque, "I reiterate not only the interest, but all the help from Colombia so that during this pro tempore Presidency we can guarantee Ecuador's access to this important alliance."

Duque referred to Lasso as "a great friend" and congratulated him for the "valuable victory" in the elections of last April 11, as well as for "his convictions that he has always had in his defense of democracy throughout the hemisphere." .

Lasso arrived in Bogotá this noon accompanied by his wife, María de Lourdes Alcívar, and Juan Carlos Holguín, Iván Correa Calderón, Heinz Moeller Gilbert, Aparicio Caicedo and Marcelo Hurtado Lomas, who are part of the transition team.

 For the meeting with Lasso, Duque was accompanied by his vice president, Marta Lucía Ramírez, and the main heads of his Cabinet such as the Chancellor, the Minister of the Interior, the Minister of Defense, the Minister of Commerce and Tourism.

During this meeting, which was given in a reserved manner and included a lunch for the delegation, they also addressed issues of cooperation in matters of security, as well as democracy and freedom. Lasso is expected to return to Ecuador this Tuesday afternoon.

"Through a message on the social network Twitter, the White House, headquarters of the United States Executive, announced that Joe Biden welcomed the victory of Guillermo Lasso in the ballot last Sunday.

In its tweet, the White House explained that the President of the United States, Joe Biden, also applauded the Ecuadorian people for "demonstrating the power of peaceful and inclusive political participation and embracing the ideals of democracy."

The message from the White House assures that Biden "congratulates Guillermo Lasso on the election of him as the new president of Ecuador."

In the same way, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken also recognized Lasso's electoral victory last Sunday.

"On behalf of the people of the United States, I congratulate Guillermo Lasso on his election as the next President of Ecuador. We also extend our congratulations to the Ecuadorian people, for exercising their right to choose their leadership, especially during these times of unique challenges."

Blinken said in a statement, in which it is mentioned that he hopes to work together with the new Ecuadorian president. "We congratulate candidate Andrés Arauz for supporting the democratic principles of Ecuador," added the Blinken statement.

PLANS TO GET VACCINATED IN PHASE 1 ADVANCES IN ITS SCHEDULE ON A NATIONAL SCALE - OFFICIAL BULLETIN 1869- March 12, 2021 Quito, Ecuador. –

'The Minister of Health, Rodolfo Farfán, through a national chain, gave details of the execution model of Phase 1 of the Vaccine Plan.-

"The schedule for Phase 1 of the Vaccine Plan is as follows: March 1 Beginning of Phase 1 March 11 and 12 Phase 1 ends in the Galapagos Province March 30, 100% of the health personnel of health establishments of the public and private network of the country have been vaccinated.

April 30 Phase 1 ends in the province of Pichincha, Guayas and Azuay.

May 20 Phase 1 ends throughout the country Phase 1 has as a target group for vaccination of 2 million people that includes: health personnel who were not vaccinated in Phase 0 belonging to hospitals, clinics, laboratories and medical centers, health and image .

These include: doctors, nurses, assistants, technologists, orderlies, customer service personnel, cleaning personnel, custodians, postgraduates, and last-year internship students with hospital life.

This Phase 1 also includes: • Senior citizens • Public Force • Firefighters • Teachers of all levels of the private, fiscal and municipal sectors • Vulnerable groups • Garbage collectors • Strategic sectors of attention: -

Ecuadorian Red Cross and Civil Defense lifeguards-Municipal control agents-ECU-911-Brigadiers of the National Risk and Emergency Management Service-Personnel of funeral homes, crematoriums and cemeteries-High exposure security sector.

For the implementation of this Phase 1, the Minister explained that a mixed management model will be applied that will combine a registration model on the web and a vaccination model by sector, according to the following detail-

Open registration model: For seniors, who must register on the www.planvacunarse.ec portal, which will be ready from March 15th.

It will be enabled by age range and priority will be given first to citizens aged 65 and over. Vaccination model by sector: The other groups other than the elderly will be called progressively according to the databases of each sector.

 

 

"The team of the Ministry of Public Health, the public-private coalition, the academy, municipalities, ministries and federations are working on consolidating the data that will allow us, simultaneously, to vaccinate all citizens of the target group of Phase 1," said Farfán.

In order to solve the doubts of the population, the website www.planvacunarse.ec is available to the public, with a segment of questions and answers about the vaccination plan.

The Minister of Health called on Ecuadorians to continue with protection measures, to attend vaccination appointments, to respect and wait for the Phase that corresponds to each one, as well as to pitch in so that Ecuadorians walk towards a safe vaccination for all." -
