 16MAY24 👨‍⚕️‍⚕️👩‍⚕️The Government of the United States donated two field hospitals to Ecuador to meet the needs of the inhabitants of Alausí, which in 2023 suffered a large avalanche in which 75 people died. The delivery of both hospitals, which are valued at $2.1 million and have the capacity to care for up to 80 patients simultaneously,🎪 MASH: 'Mobile Army Surgical Hospital'


responds to a pressing need in the health sector in that area of ​​the province of Chimborazo, where landslides continue to affect the area. These hospitals are already enabled and, according to data from the Ministry of Health, from January to April 2024, the average number of people treated per day is 136 in
different areas such as cardiology, general surgery, orthopedic surgery and traumatology, and medicine. internally, as specified in a statement by the United States Embassy in Ecuador.

Alausí is located in the Andean province of Chimborazo, where on March 26, 2023, a large avalanche occurred when part of one of the surrounding mountains fell, burying a sector of the population. In that event, 75 people lost their lives, of which nine were reported missing after rescue efforts failed to find their bodies

among the enormous amount of tons of earth on which dozens of houses were buried.
