Ancient Sumerians In Ecuador: The Father Crespi Mystery…

128_31_01_10_9_10_16
In the Amazonian Ecuadorian region called Morona Santiago there is a very deep cavern, known in Spanish as Cueva de los Tayos (Cave of the Oilbirds). According to some researchers the true discoverer of the huge archaeological treasures of the Cueva de los Tayos was not the Hungarian Juan Moricz, but rather the Salesian priest Carlo Crespi (1891-1982), a native of Milan, Italy....read more: http://hiddenincatours.com/ancient-sumerians-in-ecuador-the-father-crespi-mystery/

Tax Intelligence: New IRS offshore amnesty program- Monday, June 9, 2014

Tax Intelligence: New IRS offshore amnesty program: The IRS is now working on creating a path specifically for otherwise honest people who want to comply with their U.S. tax obligations, ...

FATCA. If you
hold assets over $50,000 in a bank account or any other kind of
financial assets outside the US during the year, you need to report it.
This reporting goes with your regular income tax return deadline April
15. IRS imposes a penalty of $10,000 if you fail reporting and $10,000
for each month thereafter up to a maximum of $60,000.
Criminal charges may also apply.

FBAR. If
you hold assets over $10,000 in a bank account or any other kind of
financial assets outside the US during the year, you need to report it.
This reporting requirement is in addition to FATCA. FBAR reporting goes
separately of your income tax return and its deadline is June 30. It is
an online filing only. IRS imposes a penalty of $10,000 if you
unwillfully omit this reporting. If wilfully, you will be subject to a
penalty of $100,000 or 50% of your holdings in foreign accounts,
whatever is greater. Criminal charges may also apply.

"So, is Quito really as dangerous in comparison to Cuenca as the internet sometimes* wants* me to believe?"--

"So, is Quito really as dangerous in comparison to Cuenca as the internet sometimes* wants* me to believe?"--

By Jack Abercrombie Hi Neighbors,

--No--not really--(IMHO) --

I have lived / rented in & based out of Quito since SEP 2008 to be near the UIO to get my clients in and out easily. I go to Cuenca several times a year on business and have many good friends there, that absolutely Love it!

"Is Quito more dangerous than Chicago?"--
--
(IMHO) No, not if you know the ropes and various sectors & hoods-- My Uncle that lives off and on in Cotacachi, lived in Glynn Ellen & worked out of Addison (CHI) for 25 yrs, I visited him often in the Greater Chicago Metro Area, we would also shop at the huge farmers mkt in downtown CHI.

"Is Quito & Cuenca particularly more dangerous for expats?" --Trick Question--

(IMHO) --It is dangerous for Expats & Ecuadorians both, if they do not use a healthy amount of situational awareness.

"Can anyone who lives there give me some potential points as to Quito might be better than Cuenca?"

--No, not really (IMHO)...

Everyone's experience is different, MPG vary from one to another / beholder, but they are 2 totally different animals / apples & oranges, but -yes they are both UNESCO World heritage site cites..

Cuenca is Big- 600k pop, - Quito is Huge- 2million pop, they both have 'Pro' strong points, they both have 'Cons' and various community's & neighborhoods you may would want to turn your situational awareness up a notch or 2:)

It is all ways recommended to come for an exploratory visit and see for yourself first hand / boots on the ground.
..but some folks cannot afford to do that, or simply don't care to, but that usually clears up a lot of the variance in the ole MPG perception thing.

If I knew more about your background and asked you about 4-5 questions back at you, I may could clear things up for you a little. I clock about 20,000 km's per year throughout most of lil ole EC, I don't just stay put in my little Mtn. Town or Fishing Village neighborhood.:)

How do you like living in ECUADOR Journeyman Jack...? FRI 13 JUN 2014

How do you like living in ECUADOR Journeyman Jack...?

By Jack Abercrombie Hi Neighbors,

Back in mid SEP 2008 - mid MAR 2009 EC.: I did my exploratory whirlwind tour via the auto bus / backpacking / hosteling about 90 days on the coast & 90 days in the sierra, I did not want to leave.:
https://plus.google.com/photos/108089047953129234429/albums

..by mid MAR to mid JUN '09 I flew (ran) home to GA to get my docs & last minute affairs in order, and I have not set foot out of EC since my last entry into this diversely rich country since JUN 2009...

This is exactly how my EC Migration Movement doc reads, I not long ago got one for the 5th or 6th time to complete my naturalization / citizenship back on 21 APR 2014 when I got sworn in as an Ecuadorian Citizen.

I can tell / write you how much I like / dislike EC until I am blue in the face, but the above dates of my actions & example may speak more clearly & loudly.

I liked & loved GA for the first 45 yrs. of my life, not each and every aspect, but for the most part.

..as a traveling tractor salesman (heavy equipment) backpacking / hosteling I spent OCT NOV DEC 2002 in Europe from Amsterdam NL to the bottom to Athens, Greece, liked & loved it for the most part.

..new years eve 2002 I flew from Athens to Cairo, spent JAN FEB to MAR 14th 2003 in Egypt, Israel, Jordan & Lower (South) Egypt liked it, had a blast for the most part. ..it was an adventure / learning - eye opening experience that made my mind up, that I indeed wanted to live abroad.
(nice place to visit or part time work, but not to live permanently)

..it took me about 5 yrs to wrap up GA on my mind and make up my mind just where to go look, so by 2008- the time my opportunity to check EC out came up, I absolutely fell in LOVE with it.

I whine (cheese) & complain at times about GOV Bureaucracy back in GA & as well here in EC,

EC has changed drastically on it's own in the past 5 yrs & will change even more drastically in the next 5 to come, ..but EC has changed me as well, little by little.

--“Change is the only constant in life”
“No man ever steps into the same river twice”. An ever flowing river is there and even has a name, yet the water in it keeps changing so that from one second to the next it is really a different river. ~ Heraclitus~ (the pre-Socractic Greek philosopher)--

To me, just IMHO, your & others MPG may vary, the pros are still outweighing the cons in EC 5+ yrs later from my standpoint..

I travel about 20,000km's per / yr from one end of EC to the other coastal & sierra: https://www.facebook.com/JourneymanJackinEcuador/photos_albums

I don't just stay on my keyboard / PC monitor- reporting in from my little mountain or coastal village or town, telling folks this is the only paradise spot on planet earth:)

If I stayed put in my little village of Mitad del Mundo 20 km's N. of Quito, I would go Loco / bonkers, it's nice to visit w/ my friends on the coast - cuenca - cotacachi - ibarra - mindo - banos - tena - esmeraldas - loja - vilcabamba - macas - GYE etc etc...for a reality check & compare notes.

I've seen a lot of folks come and go from EC since 2008

I am supposedly to be way past the honeymoon phase, but I just haven't been able to shake it off just yet:)..as long as EC is magical, challenging, discovering & teaching me lessons culturally & spiritually - that I am able to learn & grow from & able to share & benefit others, I'm all in.

But if it ever gets dull & boring - Jack will pack his little tool box and go play somewhere's else, probably in SA on an EC passport. (but it won't be GA nor NA)

EC has a pulse & gives me a pulse, it helps me to feel ALIVE...heck, maybe I will make it another 5+ yrs... thus far I'm Loving Every Minute of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPKAwJKGSDc

Is Ecuador Dangerous? The latest from ECUADOR GEORGE 17 JUN 2014

Thank you GringoTree for picking www.ecuadorgeorge.com as your Best Blog of the Day.

The latest from ECUADOR GEORGE
by George M Forgues:

I hear the same questions all the time… Is Ecuador Dangerous? Can I bring my guns with me? Is the food safe to eat? Can you drink the water? Do the locals hate us?

When I was still in California, someone told me to be extra careful
when visiting Ecuador beaches. He had heard that there were fleas that would get under your skin and start eating away at your flesh. Only amputation would save you…. I was expecting to see a bunch of one legged surfers when we were in Montanita….

Someone else told me to always carry my wallet in my front pocket, no matter where I was. Expats are targets for pickpockets so you need to be extra careful at all times. This is a little more relevant than the flesh eating sand fleas, but for me, I only move my wallet to the front pocket when I am in crowded areas like buses, parades or festivals. But I did the same thing back in the states. Normal caution.....read more: Is Ecuador Dangerous?

Move Mountains or go through them or around them!

I got 18 out of 20 correct on my Spanish test out of a rotating pool of 200 questions at the ANT Agency National Transit = DMV to Grand Father / Transfer my GA CDL (Comm Driver License) Class A Tractor Trailer Combination up to 80,000#'s , to an EC equivalent to a Professional Class E in Quito today.

I started this process back on 17 MAR, the day b4 my GA LIC expired on my B-day, took 3 months.

In spite of it being FRI the 13th-

-Typical FRI Quito Traffic-

-My Pico y Placa Day, which means I cannot enter or leave the city limits of Quito from 7am - 9:30am and cannot leave or enter from 4pm - 7:30pm to cut down on rush hour traffic, designated by my Tag / License plate ending in "0".

-In spite of CME (Coronal Mass Ejections) predicted for today:) I just did a Hale Mary and went on it for it anyway!

I hope everyone had a Great Day. Don't let anything hold you back, if you hang in there and try hard enough you will see light at the end of the tunnel & can Move Mountains or go through them or around them!

..and Many Many Thanks = Mil Gracias to Attila Gyuris for his lengthy detailed posts on the various EC Expat Groups on just how to go about this License Transfer process.

...back in 2010 this was not an option, $200.+ ANETA driving school 3 nights a week for 1 month to get my EC. "B" class Light Vehicle License & Motorcycle License.

I have more typical EC Bureaucratic Hurdles to jump through this month, coming months, I just keep plugging along:)

Well this the only FRI the 13th we get in 2014, with a Full Moon to Boot, so get out there and soak up some Moon Beams, Gomez, Morticia & Uncle Fester would be proud of a night like tonight:)

Cost of Living in Cuenca Ecuador 2014

This information was kept current every day during our second month in Ecuador.

These numbers should give a good indication as to what normal

that?
Here are the numbers from May of 2014.

Agreement signed between U.S. And Ecuador for marketing of bananas

--That's no small bananas--

United States imports an annual average of 30 million boxes of bananas,
with an estimated market value of $885 million dollars, through the Port
of Hueneme. This agreement, managed by the PRO ECUADOR's Commercial
Office in Los Angeles, provides a more direct approach that will provide
exporters of Ecuadorian bananas, better facilities.

Our New Andean Life: Father's Day

Damn Goats!

As many of you know we have been having serious issues with our goats.
To the point where we are seriously considering selling them.  First it
started off with moving up here on this mountain above Cuenca and
eventually not having enough pasture.  So, we created more pasture with
the hopes of moving them back and forth between pastures every two
months or so.

Well, the wire that was sold to Mark as aluminum was not
and has started to rust, which has created shorts in the wire.  Which
means that the electric power running through the fence is weak and the
goats have learned that.  Every two or three times a day they go through
or hop the fence to head to greener pastures.  Our neighbor's
pastures.  They don't eat as much as his cows do and don't do any of the
damage that they do, but they are our neighbors and we want to be good
neighbors.  So, they can't keep doing this...read more:

Retiring to Ecuador....Why not!: Cinco de Mayo - a Mexican holiday in Ecuador

Cinco de Mayo - a Mexican holiday in Ecuador

Cinco de Mayo isn't celebrated in Ecuador. Why? Because it's a Mexican
holiday and one that many in the US have adopted as a reason to party.
In our case it became a reason to meet up with friends, both old and
new.

Jack Abercrombie,
a well known tour guide-driver from Quito (the capital of Ecuador) was
visiting the area for a few days and called for a gathering of friends
at Fabiano's (our favorite pizza spot). He anticipated maybe 20-25
people. We ended the afternoon at over 40!

We saw old friends and made several new ones. We caught up on folks were
doing, talked motorcycles, listened to stories about health care here
in Cuenca, chatted about the adventure of moving here and a lot more.

Here are some photos I took...great afternoon and delicious food (I had the lasagna and Stu had a meat lovers pizza)...: http://www.retiredincuenca.com/2014/05/cinco-de-mayo-mexican-holiday-in-ecuador.html

Terra Nova de Corazón: My first workshops! Manglaralto area, ECUADOR

Terra Nova de Corazón: My first workshops!:

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

My first workshops!

I've been expressing to people that one of the primary goals of Terra Nova is to create a sacred space for people to host/attend workshops (for growth,
healing, living skills, etc.), or simply take a retreat from the daily
grind of Industrial Civilization. Our first events, May 16-18, are shown
here - Guy McPherson giving his presentation on the Global Climate
Crisis, followed by a 2-day workshop on processing and moving through
grief. Pauline will be there as a co-facilitator and to document!

We
plan to host a potluck on Friday evening, 5-7pm, before his
presentation. If you're in the Manglaralto area, please stop by and
introduce yourself. If you're coming from out of town, we have a great
deal at Hosteria Arandú ($20-25/night per person, including breakfast), or you can camp/hammock on our land.
For more information or to RSVP, please contact me directly.

What Do Ecuadorians Think About Americans in Ecuador?

What Do Ecuadorians Think About Americans in Ecuador?

Do You Care About What Ecuadorians Think About You?   (part 2)

Lets start with a couple of short stories today…

Americans in Ecuador

An Ugly Touchdown in Guayaquil

I was pretty tired when our plane landed at Guayaquil International…
Another long flight from the states. It was almost mid-night as the
plane taxied towards the gate and finally came to a stop.

Now count to 5.

That is how long it took for some guy sitting behind me to yell, “hey, turn the lights on.”

The lights were turned on and everyone started to get out of their seats to disembark. The same guy yells again, “Thanks for the lights…. Guess this is the first time you ever flew an airplane.”

I looked over at Chad and whispered, “Mad White Guy”.

Yes, we were not even out of the plane before some whack-job decided to open his mouth....read more: http://www.ecuadorgeorge.com/americans-in-ecuador/#.U06dvxUtmXY.facebook

Moving to Ecuador This Week - March 31, 2014 - If It Were Easy, Everyone Would Do It!

If It Were Easy, Everyone Would Do It!

We are finally moving to Ecuador.
These last 4 months have been the craziest time, and this final 30 days has been completely out of control.
Tomorrow we finally leave for the airport. We have booked a nice room near LAX to rest up before the all day relocation to Cuenca on Wednesday.
Nervous stomach, chest pains, mini rages, sleep deprivation, mind racing, E.D., and strange hair growth in weird places are all ongoing issues. Did I mention the boil and toe nail fungus? Funny what your body does when it is under stress.
I don’t do drugs anymore, so valium has been out of the question…. and I don’t drink either.  Lucky for me I still have a dirty mind.
My stress management tools usually work pretty well.
But these last 30 days have really been a challenge. I expect I will have some wisdom to share soon, once the inside of my head slows down just a bit and lets me think clearly again....read more: http://www.ecuadorgeorge.com/moving-to-ecuador-3/#.UzmR0szJ1aM.facebook

 Gringo Tree: March 25, 2014
Landslide cuts major Quito highway to coast-
Heavy rains in the northern sierra have triggered landslides that have closed the main highway between Quito and coast. As of this morning, hundreds of vehicles are stranded as efforts to clear the Quito - Santo Domingo highway continue

According to Fabian Uzcátegui, Secretary of Infrastructure, another in three-day series of landslides covered part of the highway Tuesday night, dumping 5,000 more cubic meters onto the roadway.

Uzcátegui said that the landslides have caused a number of injuries, including eight in a bus struck by falling rocks on Monday.

Uzcátegui said that heavy equipment is on the scene and says the roadway is expected to be cleared by afternoon. “The problem is that the ground is saturated and the rain continues to fall,” he said. “It is very likely we will have more slides. All we can do is to keep working and hope for the best.”

A major concern for road crews are loose rocks that continue to drop onto the highway. “We have to consider the safety of our workers,” Uzcátegui said.

Late march to early May is a period of particularly heavy rainfall in the sierra, and a period of frequent landslides.: http://www.cuencahighlife.com/post/2014/03/25/Two-expat-couples-detained-in-the-US-for-tax-violations3b-Foreigners-help-push-symphony-attendence-numbers.aspx

Police Encounter…Stopped and Searched

My cell phone is in a leather case, attached to a lanyard that I wear around my neck. I’ve carried my phone like this for maybe five years. The original case was intended to be worn on a belt so it has a strong metal clip on the backside of the case. I keep my car and motor scooter documents in plastic cases clipped into place behind my cell phone....read more: http://donaldmurrayecuador.com/police-encounter-stopped-and-searched/?fb_action_ids=10152316787180011&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=aggregation&fb_aggregation_id=288381481237582

Event Horizon Chronicle: The Ayahuasca Totalitarian Dictatorship Visions

By Richard Sauder:
Event Horizon Chronicle: The Ayahuasca Totalitarian Dictatorship Visions: Back in late 2010, when I came to Ecuador to pursue a shamanic vision quest, I did not know what to expect. I still don't! I say that ...

Transparent As a Pane of Glass

To me the answer to all these questions is "yes". It's transparently obvious to me. The totalitarian dictatorship that ayahuasca
showed to me two years ago is being methodically set in place. It was a
clear vision, like looking at a computer monitor. Current events are
resembling more and more closely what I was shown. The USSA government
is irretrievably wicked. Its agents will kill people. That's what the
NDAA is all about. There won't be a trail of evidence or a trial.
They'll just eliminate people.

If you need an image to bring it into focus, look at this photo of DHS ICE special agents training for a national security "emergency."  Does that not look ominous? Note that the American flag is conspicuously reversed. Get it?

As
for the threat of a major, international war, it is real, and growing
by the day. The USSA at present is clearly on a trajectory to a military
confrontation with Russia, China, Syria and Iran and maybe more. The
conflict may well go nuclear.

The threat of one or more spectacular, notorious "false flag" attacks to create a war panic is also very real.

My
advice to anyone who is inclined to leave the USSA is to leave just as
soon as you can feasibly manage it. Better to be a little bit early than
a little bit too late. When the doors are slammed shut and the Feds are
rounding people up, or using those 141,000 rounds of sniper ammo to
liquidate people on their "watch lists", it will be too late.

Sometimes God helps those who help themselves.

Rotary Club of Quito in Ilinizas

Dear Colleagues, I proudly share with you The north summit Illiniza we did with my son Roger Abraham 12 and other friends on Sunday 2 February, after almost 6 hours of climbing we reached 5130 meters to dominate a spectacular view from a narrow rocky summit with high cliffs. Tiredness, dizziness and ultimately difficult to describe satisfaction, the kind that will last a lifetime. Being up there you get questions like this: How nature can be gestated this summit with a magical array of perfectly placed rock on rock?. Hope you like the photos.

Retiring to Ecuador....Why not!: How did we move all our stuff?

Retiring to Ecuador....Why not!: How did we move all our stuff?: I know I've discussed this in various back posts but it was hit or miss.
I keep getting questions about how we moved all our stuff and thought
I'd put it all in one post.

At the Airport

Also, note that not everyone moves in suitcases like we did. Many folks
ship pallets or shipping containers full of their stuff. Each person
must make their own decisions about what is important to THEM. We had
made an exploratory trip so had a general idea about what to bring other
than clothes.

This is what flew with us on American Airlines, December 2013. We flew
business class which gave us THREE FREE bags each! We paid $150 for each
additional bag, thus our three extra bags cost us $450. Also, by flying
business class we had a weight allowance of 70# each bag!

Brien Foerster Elongated Skulls DNA results

Some preliminary results have been obtained from the elongated skulls found in the Paracas area of Peru.

The DNA has many more mutations than would be acceptable to call it homo sapien. It may be another forgotten lineage of man or perhaps it is a starseed bought here many eons ago.

Many more tests need to be done but the first indications point to a deepening of the mystery of the elongated skulls.

Last Shopping Trip for Prepping: What to Get if You Only Have One Chance Left

Last Shopping Trip Ever: What to Get if You Only Have One Chance Left-

prepping last minute

Written by P. Henry
The news on Wednesday mentioned closed door meetings with the President and the heads of the several agencies and organizations dealing with finances. It included members of the Federal Reserve (which is not a government agency) the FDIC, the CFTC and the SEC as well as the Federal Housing Agency. This meeting has a lot of people spooked and you can read some reasons why on the SHTFPlan blog. Actually, by the time this post is published, we may know what they were talking about. Mostly, the very rational concern stems from the belief that something big is getting ready to happen and only the powers that be know what it is. They are obviously too scared to let us know. Could this have anything to do with the glitch on NASDAQ Thursday that halted trading?

News like this makes me start to mentally go over my prepping and I start analyzing what I still haven’t done, or need to check on again. This happens almost every time there is a news story like this and it is with the full knowledge and belief that I am squared away at a level that I believe will keep my family fed and secure for a good bit of time. Could we last if everything descended into chaos tomorrow and there was wide-spread panic, looting, violence and wars? That, I don’t know.

However, we have made a lot of preparations for our family so I don’t feel helpless if we are visited by a future doomsday scenario like that any time soon. I certainly don’t welcome it, but I don’t feel like we’ll be caught completely off guard either. I mentioned in another post how from time to time, thinking about what I would do with some small amount of advanced warning causes me to reevaluate my preps. I do think that it is wise to constantly be aware of your surroundings (as well as what’s going on in the world) and to take advantage of circumstances if you can, to give your family a leg up.....read more: Source: The Prepper Journal

New changes and procedures for Visiting at Quito womens Prison

New changes and procedures

I want to thank you for taking some time to read this. The prison has continued to implement more changes to the women’s prison in Quito. The first change that they are enforcing is that you cannot bring in anything to the prisoners on visit days. Visit days are still Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday. I do know that when I have given items such as tissue paper, toothpaste, diapers and toys, the women are genuinely grateful. I cannot judge the women there for any drug use or pregnancies that happen in that particular prison.
Anyone that is in the Quito area can still give basic necessity items such as toiletry items, feminine hygiene products, or food. They are putting a limit on the amount of items you can give per lady to ten. If you want to give items, then you need to go to the prison on Mondays or Thursdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and drop it off with the guard there. You need to have a first and last name for the guard so he knows who to give it to. I give to three prisoners there, two are Americans and one is from the Philippines. They distribute donated things to other inmates there. Please email me at timjh25@yahoo.com for those or other names if you want to visit or give. Please read my first blog entry on how to visit prisoners in person. The link for that is http://quitowomensprison.wordpress.com/2014/01/
If you cannot make it to the prison and still want to help, I have started a gofundme site for them. Every penny donated will go to toiletries, food, toys, etc to the people that live inside that prison. Here is the link to donate: http://www.gofundme.com/Incaprisonwomen
I want to personally thank the two biggest English bookstores in the Plaza Foch area for their book donations to the women. The word that can best describe their reaction to the boxes of books is gratitude.
Comments by Journeyman Jack: I have met & personlly know the above writer Tim De. he is a fine fellow for taking the time to help out and visit at the Quito Womens Prison.

Ecuador - The IOM Mission in Ecuador, working with partners, has launched an information campaign in Quito’s international airport aimed at combating and raising public awareness of human trafficking and smuggling.
IOM’s Development Fund provided funding for the billboards, which will be displayed at the Mariscal Sucre International Airport for a year, with support from the Ministry of Interior and the National Police, as well as the Municipality of Quito.   The airport’s concessionaire company, QUIPORT, waived the fees for the use of the spaces.
“Human trafficking is a violation of a person’s human rights.  We want the public to know this, but also to know that it is an illegal and very lucrative activity run by international criminal networks,” said Rogelio Bernal, IOM Chief of Mission in Ecuador....read more: https://www.iom.int/cms/en/sites/iom/home/news-and-views/press-briefing-notes/pbn-2014/pbn-listing/ecuador-launches-information-cam.html
