"Today, December 19, the blackouts come to an end after almost three months of power cuts,

"Today, December 19, the blackouts come to an end after almost three months of power cuts, which at their most critical moment were up to 14 hours a day. It will be the end of three months of sacrifices and disruptions in the daily activities of Ecuadorians.

Days ago President Daniel Noboa said that his government has done "everything necessary so that, regardless of the climate conditions that affect us in the future, this is the last energy crisis that will hit Ecuador in this way."

However, seven industrial companies will continue to face restrictions, while the Turkish barge Murat Bey, which is already in the country, will be key to improving electricity supply.

📍 The Government has taken measures such as the arrival of this barge and agreements to stabilize the electricity network after the power generation crisis.

📍 In addition, the purchase of energy to the neighboring country Colombia was managed, demonstrating the existence of a bilateral relationship between the mandates Daniel Noboa and Gustavo Petro.

📍 As economic relief, households for these days already received the plates with the compensation offered by the Government. Those who consume up to 180 kilowatt/hour per month will only have to pay the tariff for other services. The benefit is for four months, by when everyone expects that the lack of electricity is already a problem solved.

This is how a time of darkness ends and a glimmer of light appears in the Ecuadorians who long for the country not to be harmed again by this problem that has suffered for years and for several governments has gone unnoticed."

12DEC24 "Ecuador State Attorney General Diana Salazar joins Argentine President Javier Milei, Brasilian Minister Marina Silva, and Spanish fútbol player Jenni Hermoso on Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2024.

The full list was announced on December 12 and includes Artists, Icons, Titans, Leaders, Innovators and Pioneers. In addition, it is complemented by the election of the Person of the Year, who in 2024 is none other than the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump.

Last April 2024, Time had already anticipated that Salazar would be part of the prestigious list that is announced each year. What does Time say about prosecutor Salazar? The magazine has included Salazar in the list of the 100 most influential leaders.

It says that "Diana Salazar Méndez, the youngest person, 42 years old, and the first black woman to hold the position of highest police authority in Ecuador, has one of the hardest and most dangerous jobs in the Western Hemisphere." -

09NOV24 "What was sort of to be expected has finally happened: a turbine of the Mazar plant has been damaged!

09NOV24 "What was sort of to be expected has finally happened: a turbine of the Mazar plant has been damaged by operating it at a too low water level.

From Cuenca Comunica with the attached document translated:

An official document from CENACE’s report has been leaked, stating the following:

"WORKING AT LOW LEVEL DAMAGED A TURBINE IN MAZAR"

CENACE is requesting between 12 and 14 hours of blackouts...

But the serious part is in the last line...

It doesn’t say "to prevent collapse"

But rather "To reduce the risk of collapse."

24-Hour Power Outages Planned by Empresa Eléctrica Quito in Industrial Sectors from November 10 to 14

The Ecuadorian government has announced an increase in power outage hours between November 10 and 14, 2024. This comes amidst a severe energy crisis in the country, driven by factors like lack of investment and low water levels.

“At this moment, we do not have the conditions to maintain just six hours. We need to increase the hours,” announced Energy Minister Inés Manzano in an interview with Ecuavisa on November 8.

The acting Energy Minister, Inés Manzano, stated that the blackouts could last up to eight hours per day.

In certain areas of Quito, however, the power outage will last 24 hours, meaning no electricity for five consecutive days.

Details can be found on page eight of the Empresa Eléctrica Quito schedule, published on its website.

A total of 24-hour outages over five days are planned for three substations that serve industrial areas"

'ECUADOR EMERGENCY' COMMUNICATION: #ECUADOR #NationWide 8 hr scheduled blackout from 10pm to 06am in 48 hours this Wed night 18SEP24-

An 'ECUADOR EMERGENCY' COMMUNICATION: Greetings, fellow Ecuador citizens and residents. Regarding the #ECUADOR #NationWide 8 hr scheduled blackout from 10pm to 06am coming our way in 48 hours this Wednesday night 18SEP24-

🔌 (and for subsequent blackouts to follow)💡 if you or your Apt Building don’t have an electric generator available, then here are a few things to consider to lessen the impact:

A.- Make sure to gas up your car and charge up all your electronic devices before 18:00 for next morning. ⛽
B.- Also freeze up a few water bottles, and put them in the fridge, (at least two in each shelf}, to keep it cold. And don’t keep opening the fridge door to look at what’s inside.

C.- If your kitchen is all electric, you might want to get a small gas stove to heat stuff up.
D.- Security-wise, be on the alert as some criminals might take🥷🏻 advantage that the alarms and electric fences will not be operational. E.- Test and make sure that your flash lights have fresh working batteries.🔦🪫🔋
---

Also It is highly recommended to take all necessary security measures for your safety and of your family and also of your business premises.

1.- Stay inside your houses with all the security measures in place, do not leave anything outside that brings attention and is within reach of thieves.
2.- Probably there will be no digital cell communications as the repeater antennas will be inoperative.📲
3.- Keep your cell phone fully charged so that the flashlight will work if you do not have a dedicated flashlight.📱
4.- Have flashlights with fresh batteries, candles and matches, in case you need them inside the house,🔦

5.- Businesses have to set up all possible security measures also.📏
6.- Everyone should have alarm whistles, for emergencies, and blow the whistle repeatedly and the neighbors should do the same, since the regular alarms will not be working.🎺
7.- If you hear strange noises and movements, make noise, beep, whistle and use your cell phones to record a video, as there will be no cameras.📹

8.- Have your house keys on hand ready for any emergency, so you can lock/open the doors, (including in case of an earthquake.)🔑🗝
9.- Disconnect all the electrical appliances you can, to avoid damage when the power surge comes back on.
10.- Do not open the door of the refrigerator unnecessarily, to maintan the cold temperature and avoid damaging the food.🥩🦪🍤

11.- Stay calm and make the most appropriate decisions in case of an emergency situation.
12.- Everything you can set up for security and safety in each home is important and necessary. Talk to your neighbors to help each other out and have a plan. 🏡🏘🏠🛖
13.- Have fully charged fire extinguishers handy in case some of your family or neighbors have an accident with matches candles, gas stoves etc etc

14.- If your vehicle has an alarm, you can activate it with your key fob in case of an emergency. Have the remote control handy.🚗
15.- Check that everything is ok when it is daytime the morning of THU 19SEPT and the power comes back on. 🔌 Then wait for half an hour or thereabouts, and then reconnect the electrical appliances only after once the power supply has stabilized, 📊

📈since voltage variations can fluctuate wildly when the power returns after a long outage such as this, 📉that can affect your sensitive electronics and fuse panel, as they can be blown out by the surge. ⚡️(not the purge:)🦹🏻‍♂️

16.- "The Government has declared A 'STATE OF EXCEPTION (#ToqueDeQueda) a nationwide blackout on Wednesday night 22:00pm until Thursday morning 06:00am,

(So Stay home and off of the Streets) as announced by the Minister of the Interior, Monica Palencia. More than 70 thousand uniformed services personnel will be mobilized." More details ▶️ https://bit.ly/3TwJtW5

16 Sept 2024 - (16:32) These 6 Major Services will be affected during Wednesday night's power outage: Street lighting - The lighting of the country's roads will be affected during the eight-hour power outage announced by the Government. The roads will remain dark, since the public lighting service cannot be separated from the residences, explained Ricardo Buitrón , an expert in the energy field.
Cellular phone and internet service - During the power outage, there will be interruptions in mobile phone and internet services. The reason is that electricity is vital for the operation of telecommunications networks. The bases of these networks are powered by batteries, however, their autonomy is between 4-6 hours maximum. But with all of Ecuador in darkness, the batteries will not last for more than 1 hour.
Hospitals, maternity wards and clinics in the country - Critical areas of the 134 public hospitals and maternity wards are expected to operate normally during the power outage. In general, health centers have their own generators to supply their critical areas such as emergency, intensive care units, neonatology, surgical center, obstetrics, radiology, laboratory, among others. Meanwhile, administrative areas, hospitalization and non-critical areas will not have power.
Ecuadorian prisons - Ecuador's 35 prisons have established protocols that will be applied during the power outage announced for Wednesday night and Thursday morning. These prisons house more than 30,000 prisoners.
Evening classes - Educational institutions that offer educational offerings in the face-to-face and blended modalities during the evening hours must bring forward the departure of students. That is, with a maximum limit of 8:00 p.m.
Security and curfew - During the power outage, the Ministry of Government announced a curfew, although it did not specify the time of the curfew. During the eight hours of power outage, 70,000 uniformed officers will be deployed throughout the country to provide security." https://www.elcomercio.com/actualidad/negocios/cortes-de-luz-provocaran-suspension-de-al-menos-6-servicios-este-miercoles-18-de-septiembre.html?fbclid=IwY2xjawFVwiFleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHQzCtG4gKtbuFfMRD4O-cwCTNw9I0VyB0TVUxmb3BmYUW8yLMYXadhndlA_aem_q6b_Hq9GTCVpGI-_lnqNHQ
